Well, since it's been a reeeeally long time since my last journal post (what?  Like a couple YEARS?) I decided it was high time to update the dA world on my current goings-on.

The years past have not exactly been easy for me, (although I have a great many happy memories).  Of course it cannot rain forever- and as of Feb. 10th I have successfully achieved my dream of opening my own tattoo studio.

It's a tiny-ass little place, but that suits me just fine- I'm the only one working here.  I'm calling it Kangaroo Paw tattoo, and have adopted the same title for my own name.

I seem to be attracting the attention of an unusual crowd.  For awhile now I have been creating artwork with the intention of drawing in those looking for something a little... different.  I've advertised specializing in sacred geometry, bio-organica, flora, fauna, kaleidoscopic patterns, cosmic fractals, and general imagination collaboration.  I have been fortunate to work with the bodies of many beautiful souls.

This seems to be the beginning of something great.

I'm gonna be uploading more of my recent work here soon... there's so many piles that I haven't bothered to post, so it's a somewhat daunting task, but I'll try and get the main highlights in there.  I'm a bit better at updating my FB page.



Life is good...

Although I never announced it in the first place- I'm back from a short hiatus from dA.  Because of my lack of a permanent home for the past couple of seasons, I haven't had regular internet access, and I haven't been tattooing anyways (I am no longer working for Forbidden Body Art, and starting this week I will be seeking employment elsewhere).

The past month, however, has been very exciting for me, as I had the opportunity to travel through Europe.  I was able to visit Lyon, Paris, Berlin, Budapest, Prauge, and Amsterdam (in that order).  I saw many beautiful, new and interesting things, met lots of cool people, and best of all, got to visit some amazing museums, including the Lourve and the Van Gogh museum.  I am considering uploading some of the photos I took, although since I would like my dA page to remain focused on my hand-made artwork, it will probably be only a select few of my favorites.  I am not a great photographer, so don't expect anything amazing- I took these with something like a point-and-shoot digital.

I was pretty inspired on my trip, and have already uploaded some of the artwork I made during my travels, which, because of limited space, was made only with pencils and micron pens.  Although I'm back home, all stuff (namely my scanner) is in storage, and I'm staying with family and friends until I can get a more permanent apartment.  Because of this, any art I upload will be with a digital camera for a little while.  I will probably re-upload scanned versions of my nicer pieces later.

Once I've moved into an apartment again, I will also be uploading some paintings.  I have quite a few that are put away at the moment, and I'm planning to do many more as well- I'm just beginning to explore acrylics, and could certainly use some constructive criticism.

I also hope to be working at a new tattoo shop within the month.  More updates on this later.

So, the winter was kind of a bummer.  I moved four times, and did a bit of couch-surfing in between.  I got screwed over by a few people and learned some life lessons.  I was stressed out, and didn't take very good care of myself.

Now, I'm not one to tempt fate, but it seems my woes have come to an end.  Last month, I moved into a very nice, but affordable studio.  I'm all settled in and now, I like it a lot... it feels like it was made just for me, and I'm near the heart of the city again, right were I want to be.  Freya (my boa constrictor) seems happier, too. For quite a while she was refusing food, but decided to stop scaring me to death, and finally ate yesterday.

I've been finishing up some large work lately and also been spending a lot more time sketching, so check out my scrapbook if you're interested.  I have a couple sleeves that I'll be uploading soon, and I've got a few new projects to work on as well.  Summer's almost here and with it comes a lot of business.  I expect to be absorbed in my work for the next few months, and hope to make a significant improvement.

I can't think of a thing to complain about.
